The top five states for tourism in the United States are New York, California, Illinois, Nevada, and the District of Colombia, which is not actually a state but an independent district located between Virginia and Maryland. Each of these places has something exciting and unique to offer.
New York is home to the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, Broadway, and many other historic and cultural tourist attractions.
California
California’s largest city, Los Angeles, is home to Hollywood where most American films are made and Beverly Hills where many celebrities make their homes. L.A. is also famous for its Malibu beaches.
Chicago
Illinois is home to Chicago, where tourists can visit some of the nation’s top restaurants, shops, and museums. Nevada is home to Las Vegas which is known for its casinos, blockbuster shows, world class shopping, and top notch restaurants which make this city a true desert oasis.
Finally, the District of Colombia is home to America’s capital city, Washington, D.C. This district has miles of museums and monuments, almost all of which are free, making it one of the most visited areas in the United States, especially for families and school groups. Washington, D.C., is also where the White House is located.
All of these places are special in their own ways, and they are some of the best places to vacation in the United States.
